Press Text

Incorporating both classic and modern influences, Cathubodua deliver a live performance that feels like an unfolding epic rather than a standard metal show. From delicate openings to orchestral storms, their music moves through symphonic grandeur, folk-inspired melodies and heavy, driving riffs without ever losing its identity. The result is a journey that many listeners describe as cinematic and immersive, with strong emotions rather than just technical display.

Formed in 2013, the Belgian symphonic metal band first introduced their sound with the EP Opus I: Dawn in 2016, setting the foundation for their blend of orchestration and metal storytelling. Their debut full-length Continuum followed in 2019 (Massacre Records), a 15-track release that established their signature mix of violin-led melodies, layered arrangements and dynamic songwriting. In early 2024, they returned with Interbellum (Massacre Records), a tighter and heavier record released on 23 February 2024, widely noted for pushing their sound into more aggressive territory while still preserving their symphonic core.

Across these releases, Cathubodua have built a reputation for balancing power and atmosphere: blending soaring vocals, thunderous percussion, and intricate orchestration that never feels overdone. The violin work gives Cathubodua a distinct identity in the genre, while the heavier direction of recent material adds more bite and urgency without losing emotional depth. Thematically, their music often draws from myth, war narratives, and human struggle—love, loss, guilt, and the aftermath of conflict.

With each release, Cathubodua continue to refine a sound that sits between epic storytelling and raw intensity. It’s still symphonic metal at its core, but shaped by a clear willingness to push harder, go darker, and let emotion lead the way.
